Before ending year 2019, Visiting Journalist & Travel Blogger Programs conducted by Sri Lanka Tourism hosted several groups of travel bloggers, Influencers, Journalists covering 8 Source Markets (including UK (GB), Netherlands (NL), Italy (IT), USA (US), India(IN), Japan (JP), UAE (AE), Singapore (SG) in order to promote Sri Lanka as one of the safest, yet experience driven destinations to travel.
Followed by a uniquely tailored travel plan designed by SLTPB, visiting media and travel bloggers have taken separate directions to explore “What is truly So Sri Lanka “focusing on Sri Lanka’s natural beauty, rich wildlife, golden play beaches, authentic, mouthwatering food, rich cultural values, great, colonial architectural marvels and astonishing ancient historical monuments. Travel programs spread around the island from coastal-line of South to Up North Jaffna unique food culture.

As part of this destination promotion lesser known areas such as Badulla , Bandarawela in Uva Province , Ambilipitiya , Udawalawa and Killinochchi and Jaffna in northern Province been given greater exposure as potential new tourism destinations for travelers those who search for fresh travel experiences. These initiatives are expected to support and spread tourism around the island, also supporting strength rural economies.
Mr. Kishu Gomes – Chairman Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau welcomed the visiting media and travel influencers during the networking event taken place at the Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo. Director PR Madubhani Perera, Assistant Director PR Chaminda Munasinghe, Director Events, Prasad Daluwatta and SLTPB PR Team also joined Mr. Kishu Gomes, Chairman SLTPB to welcome the media and travel bloggers.
From May to November, over the last 7 months Sri Lanka Tourism has invited over 40 International Travel Bloggers and social media influencers to the island. Over 25 mainstream travel media periodicals and TV channels visited the island to witness the travel safety in the country and showcase Sri Lanka as one of the safest destinations in the Asian Region.
local Hospitality partners including Mount Lavinia Hotel, Jetwing Travels, Jaffna Hospitality Industry partners including Tilko Hotels and Tours, Malayan. Cafe and local communities in Kilinochchi area supported the Sri Lanka Tourism PR Team in organizing these media promotional programs.
