Industry, Export, Investment Promotion,Tourism and Aviation Services Minister Prasanna Ranatunga said action will be taken to create awareness among all stakeholders in the tourism industry about the corona virus with Health Ministry assistance.

Hotel, restaurant and lodge owners and their employees, tour guides, taxi and three wheeler drivers will be educated on the corona virus under this initiative.The Tourism and Aviation Ministry has provided all information on the Chinese corona virus patient to the Health Ministry. Information pertaining to hotels she stayed and places visited and the tour guides who accompanied her were provided.

There are 2000 registered hotels under the purview of the Tourism Development Authority while another 2000 unregistered hotels, lodges and other establishments are running across the country.
