While introducing a fast ticket issuing system for tourists and the local community, the Wildlife Conservation Department launched an online E-Ticketing system for Yala National Park.

The E-Ticketing system was launched by the Wildlife Minister S. M. Chandrasena at the Ministry premises today.

Speaking to the media he said as advised by President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, the latest technology should be used to facilitate the general public and this was the day that technology would be introduced to the Wildlife Department.

The Minister requested the Wildlife Conservation Director-General M.G.C. Sooriyabandara to implement the E-Ticketing facility with other National parks such as Wilpattu and Lunugamwehera to promote tourism in the country.

Meanwhile, The Wildlife Conservation Director-General said the new system was introduced and launched following requests received regarding minimising the rush at the main gate of the Yala National Park.

“Anyone can log in to the Wildlife Conservation website and fill the short form to get a printed ticket. Payment facilities could be done through the website,” he said.

“After printing the ticket, people only have to be at the Yala National Park main gate at the correct time and date printed on the E-Ticket,” he said.

“After launching the system, that shows a boost in issuing tickets. The Department will be looking into various management procedures to manage the crowd in the National Park,” the DG added. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
