Nuwara Eliya District Secretary MBR Pushpakumara has requested the public not to visit Nuwara Eliya until further notice due to the epidemic situation in the country.

Making a special statement to the media today (29) the District Secretary said coming to Nuwara Eliya for excursions under the current COVID-19 condition is a very risky situation.

The official further stated that the security forces have been informed to take necessary steps to act in accordance with the quarantine rules on such persons arriving in the district.

District Secretary MBR Pushpakumara said all tourist attractions including the Victoria Park and Gregory Lake Park in Nuwara Eliya, Sandatenna have been closed. He added that everyone’s support is essential for the government’s health care program to protect the country in the face of the current epidemic.
